What Is The Operating Speed Of A Home Elevator?

Feb 10, 2026 Leave a message

Traditional elevators are typically used in skyscrapers, with speeds ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 m/s. Some specialized elevators can operate even faster, reaching speeds exceeding 18 m/s. These elevators are mostly suitable for buildings with high foot traffic and many floors. In private residences with fewer floors, such elevators cannot reach full speed in actual operation, and this type of elevator solution requires a large space for the pit and machine room, making it unsuitable for private residences.

In private residences, elevator travel is shorter, usage frequency is lower, and the demand for speed is also lower. Unlike traditional elevators, SWIFT home elevators are based on a platform elevator solution with a built-in machine room, significantly reducing the total space requirement and making them suitable for private residences with 2-6 floors.

The maximum speed of the SWIFT Pro is 0.15 m/s within Europe and 0.3 m/s outside Europe. The elevator door opening and closing speed can be adjusted via a touchscreen.
