Safety Requirements
According to national standards, the load-bearing capacity of household stair treads must be ≥200kg/㎡, and the anti-slip performance must comply with the "Technical Specification for Anti-slip of Building Ground Engineering". For solid wood materials, choose hardwoods with a density ≥0.6g/cm³ (such as oak or walnut). For metal materials, 304 stainless steel or aluminum alloy is recommended. Tempered glass must be at least 12mm thick and have passed 3C certification.
Material Characteristics Comparison
Solid Wood Material
Characteristics: Natural texture, warm feel underfoot, but requires regular moisture and insect protection (repainting is recommended every 2 years).
Cost: Pine approximately 300 RMB/tread, hardwood 600-800 RMB/tread.
Suitable Scenarios: Nordic style, Japanese style homes, attics with a ceiling height ≤3 meters.
Metal Material (Steel/Aluminum)
Characteristics: Load-bearing capacity up to 300kg/㎡, strong industrial design feel, but feels cold to the touch in winter (anti-slip mats are recommended). Cost: 500-1200 RMB/level.
Suitable for: Small apartments, modern minimalist style, and loft apartments.
Tempered Glass
Characteristics: Excellent transparency, Mohs hardness 6-7, but requires frequent fingerprint cleaning.
Cost: 1800-2500 RMB/level.
Suitable for: Poorly lit attics; requires a metal frame for added stability.
